Job Description

Duties include assistance with implementation, communication, and monitoring Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) and Fleet safety programs and policies. This will consist of roughly 90% General Industry and Fleet Safety operations and 10% Environmental Management. Ensures compliance to government environmental and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, FMCSA). Conducts employee training, responds to emergencies, assists in accident investigations, and recommends corrective and preventive action. Interface with federal, state and local agencies on EH&S issues including reports and audits when required.
Specific duties include:
• Assists in the coordination of safety programs, which ensure a safe work place for all employees and drives best practices
• Ensure compliance with all federal EPA standards and state environmental regulations (RCRA, hazardous materials, etc.)
• Tracks and reports Workers’ Compensation issues and implements programs to reduce incident rates.
• Manages all new and legacy Worker’s Compensation claims including return to work policies and implementation.
• Delivers necessary training to ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and to improve the focus on safety.
• Maintains all OSHA logs and required recordkeeping
• Delivers effective safety educational programs for supervisors and others.
• Performs safety assessments and develops corrective actions plans for any audits, citations, or notice of violations.
• Provides guidance and direction to management to keep them informed of regulatory changes affecting their business operations.
• Ensures timely and accurate preparation of government and company safety and environmental reports that satisfy reporting requirements.
• Maintains safety and environmental performance metrics, statistics, records, injury reporting, and record keeping systems
• Maintains all safety policies in compliance with regulations and establish effective safety guidelines
• Assists in the implementation of safety awareness and incentive programs
• Provide communication on safety through articles, newsletters, signage, etc.
• Participate in new equipment and process to ensure safety assessments are done and safety issues are addressed.
• Maintain existing MSDS system and ensure new materials and products have appropriate MSDS sheets and training.
• Perform analysis and recommend improvements to equipment and processes to improve safety and prevent accidents.
• Responsible for coordinating purchasing of safety equipment, to include PPE.
• Maintain EH&S records, to include all industrial hygiene and noise testing.
• Assist in leading organization to best practice and best in class safety program and performance developing a strong safety culture.
• Coordinate emergency response and first aid system.
• Coordinate and monitor forklift and materials safety program, to include recordkeeping.

Proven training in Industrial Health & Safety or a technically related field
Experience with environmental health and safety programs in a manufacturing environment strongly desired
Thorough knowledge of OSHA - Title 29 CFR 1910 regulations
Experience with DOT and Fleet Safety programs strongly desired
Experience maintaining government compliance reports, written plans and permit applications desirable.
Posse a high level of technical expertise, ability to apply skills to continuous process
improvement while maintaining maximum levels of safety,
Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
Excellent communication skills up and down organizational structure
Strong planning, organizational and follow up skills
Excellent people and process management skills

OHSA General Industry 30 Hour Training desirable

Job Requirements

Proven training in Industrial Health & Safety or a technically related field
Experience with environmental health and safety programs in a manufacturing environment strongly desired
Thorough knowledge of OSHA - Title 29 CFR 1910 regulations
Experience with DOT and Fleet Safety programs strongly desired
Experience maintaining government compliance reports, written plans and permit applications desirable.
