Job Description

Our Company is one of North America's largest architectural glass & aluminum fabricators and distributors, with many locations nationwide. We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer located at our Grenada, MS facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  •  Lead/work with functional teams to streamline processes to improve throughput and enable profitable growth
  • Implements and manages the plant's Lean Daily Management System
  • Manage process and product quality ensuring reliability and customer satisfaction
  • Assist plant leaders and champions in selecting projects that align with plant financial goals, KPIs and strategies
  • Develop mechanisms and lead initiatives and events to help the organization identify improvement opportunities that reduce/eliminate non-value added activities within production and business processes, (such as 5S, Visual Management, Daily Management Systems, Process Controls and Root Cause Analysis for failures)
  • Ensures plant's tracking dashboard is maintained, and results are communicated effectively to organizational leadership. Manage work cell, departmental and overall plant communication boards.
  • Serve as the plant subject matter expert for Lean and Lean Management Initiative tools and methodologies with the ability to deliver training and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Provide ongoing support to multiple project teams
  • Works with plant leadership in installing organizational supports for Lean Management Systems (reviews, communications, rewards, software, etc.)
  • Communicates Lean Management information/news to plant management, staff, and employees
  • Supports and engages in Plant KPI’s for Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost as a key player in plant management team
  • Utilize the Tru-Bar system to develop visual production dashboards for driving improved efficiencies and quality
  • Evaluates ALL product quality failures by inspecting samples of defects, preparing field inspection reports, responding to customers and approving credit requests
  • Manage and report results for product quality testing and product certifications
  • Responsible for best practice sharing process within the plant and cluster
  • Some travel for training and gathering of best business practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned, to include managing the facility’s environmental program for permit applications, reporting and compliance

Required Skills and Education/Experience 

  • BS/BA degree in Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (or other related field of study)
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification Preferred
  • 3 to 5 years’ work experience with a proven track record in Lean transformation, continuous improvement innovations, creating work standards, managing process and product quality improvement programs.
  • Well versed in the understanding and execution of continuous process improvement techniques and training (LEAN Manufacturing, Kaizen, etc.)
  • Strong leadership skills required
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills required
  • Strong technical abilities utilizing MS Office Suite programs and creation of visual graphics. Proficient in Excel and super user proficiently in PowerPoint
